Description of Duties:

Procedures have been established within each college to hear grievances of students who believe their basic rights have been denied or violated.  The student first raises the grievance with the Department and then with the college. It is hoped that most disputes will be resolved informally, but if not, the college conducts a review and renders a decision about the grievance. The student can appeal the final decision of the college to the Office of Academic Affairs.

The role of this committee, within the Office of the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, is to review the process used by the school or division when making a final decision about the grievance, and then determine whether or not there was procedural fairness or a violation that may have impacted the final decision.  If there was not procedural fairness, the committee, the college, or the divisional committee will be instructed to conduct a new hearing or review.

Faculty Representatives: Two faculty members appointed by the Faculty Senate.  Members may not be from the same college. The term of appointment shall be for three years, with the possibility of reappointment.
